XXX 30 Porn-Star Portraits

over the weekend I was at Barns and Noble, looking for a new How to draw Manga book for my collection, I came across a book that I just had to have:
XXX 30 Porn-Star Portraits
you might have heard of it, released in 2004

as I flipped through it, my first thought was:
"this could be a great drawing reference!"
it is a portrait book, not remotely pornagraphic at all
see what is cool about the book is how the portraits are set up
each individual has two portraits set up as a 2-page spread
on the left looks like they just walked in off the street:
-fully clothed
-casual / everyday clothes
-some of the females just have their hair pulled back/no makeup
-some a fairly casual pose

on the right naked people:
-usually made up/hair done/makeup
but this is what is cool
-same pose

I think it is interesting to see how the clothes
effect the look of the body
then just the emotion in the face
how it changes slightly, depending on which is more comfortible

I was surprized how many names I knew....even though I have never watched a porn video. some I know from comedians, some from bravo [jenna jameson, seen her there], finally the trey parker movie Orgazmo thats where I have seen Ron Jeremy before.

it is a good book.

over the weekend I managed to work on piece...but I was experimenting and 2nd guessing myself...this is why it seems as though I get nothing done. Rather than experimenting all the time I should consider just working in mediums I know...I would actually get something done...none the less....I did find an interesting way to work...vellum. If markers are only going to be the base...this is an interesting way to work. did an inked outline using my Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pens, brush tip in a darkblue..I did it on the reverse thinking I was going to flip it and do the color on the other side, not to effect the ink...but markers [copics] were not very happy...very sticky and thick...but flipping it back and looking at them through the vellum [light blue] they look very colored with pencils on the inked side...low wax filler..none prismacolor, except seems to look is just backwards...guess that is what a computer is for...just sketch up a bg on bristol and tape it together and scan...hopefully have something up here soon..

thought I would be done.. it was at the flats point this morning. started working on it about 330am until about 530am. half the time was playing with brushes, I ate, and I also swore I heard far off howling outside. I think the wolves are coming. could have swore I saw one last week, at 4am, the connection of 252 and 610. I slow down for all animal headlights... they usually run away from the road, "crap human saw me." ...but this creature watched my car go by. anyway what I worked on is the shading today...after dinking with brushes, I had to work on it...maybe an hour...
